PROLOGUE
Colonel Mitch Taylor had always feared Bolormaa and what she would do when she was finally through with her games. But it was not the enemy Queen who brought him so close to his death, but her ally, Cakir. And surprisingly, it was Bolormaa who saved him from that fate. Why would she go to such lengths, and destroy a powerful ally to save Taylor? Not through any kindness in her heart. She wanted Taylor to herself, to defeat on her own terms, and for the whole universe to witness. She wanted to be the champion who defeated the Alliance’s greatest champion.
However, the Alliance could not afford the loss of Taylor. It would be detrimental to the morale of those fighting on all fronts, and more than that, they needed him in the coming months or years if the allied races were to survive the apocalypse that Bolormaa seemed so eager to seek.
What if she was just waiting for Taylor to recover from his wounds before finally taking her turn and finishing the job? That was a chance the Alliance could not take, and an elaborate deception had been established; a body double that could go on living as a wounded Taylor. Meanwhile, under a new identity, he secretly worked with the latest technology to undermine Bolormaa and her armies.
Taylor, along with his new allies wreaked havoc through Bolormaa’s forces, but not in the traditional manner. There were no vast fleets and regiments of troops battling in the light of day. Just a handful of fighters in the latest advanced suits that could make a human more powerful than anyone could ever imagine. In order to protect the identity of these suits a further deception was needed. Fake reports of attacks by this new enemy on Alliance targets, so as to point the finger of blame at an unknown enemy, and therefore take Bolormaa’s attention away from the bloody path of destruction she had been cutting through the Alliance.
It was working. Covert espionage operations were beginning to strike the fear of god into the enemy. Not knowing where they would be struck next, and never seeing their attackers coming until their blades were at their throats. The new technology provided by Milo Rivers was a game changer, so long as the limitations were adhered to, a secret that must be kept from the enemy.
But then Taylor’s friends are in danger. He cannot help but return and help them in their greatest hour of need. The rescue of Captain Jones and a company of his troops was the perfect display of the power of this new equipment. A Morohtan Prince fell by Taylor’s hand with seemingly no effort at all. It was a new dawn, and a new day for the Alliance, or so it seemed.
When Taylor hears of human prisoners being held and indoctrinated to fight for the enemy, he had no choice but to take the fight to the enemy, no matter what the risks.
